Planning and Conducting Educational Programs

Submitting a program flyer
Among the services available to chapters is the creation and mailing of promotional flyers for chapter programs. If your program's details have been confirmed and you're ready to produce a flyer, you can quickly and easily submit the details to the Society.

Choosing a Topic
One of a chapter's goals (and perhaps its most visible) is providing continuing education opportunities through educational programs. Choosing timely and relevant topics is a challenge many chapters face at some point. Most have found that popular topics held annually (e.g. Fundamentals of Health and Welfare, Fundamentals of Retirement Plans, Form 5500 Basics, Legislative Update) along with topics of a more specific, time-sensitive or advanced nature provide a wide variety that appeals to a diverse membership.

Below are some recent topics from past chapter programs arranged by topic (along with a session planning guide/checklist). Click on a title for program details. Feel free to browse this area for topic or presenter ideas.

Templates and Ideas

Many chapters use form letters or templates when requesting speakers for education programs. These form letters may be modified for each individual chapter.

The New York Metro Chapter has utilized speakers from the Department of Labor. The DOL has spoken at several education programs for free due to the tax exempt status of the chapter. The form letter is a great way to quickly make a request for a speaker.

Other program suggestions include marketing ideas and program topic ideas.

Feedback is one of the most important aspects to Educational Programs. It is important to offer programs that are well received by attendees so future programs are also successful.

Here is a sample program feedback form. Chapters may add their own logo/information to personalize the form.
