The COVID-19 pandemic greatly impacted the status of mental health in the United States and around the world. The increased demand during this time highlighted the access issues when employees tried to get help. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), without effective support, mental health issues can affect an employee’s capacity to work productively, their confidence in their role, and the ability to retain or gain employment. These issues have caused employers to assess the state of their benefit programs to improve access to mental health support.
